Yes, this is what I went to university for (also philosophy but that doesn't really make for an interesting portfolio) and I still design stuff for theaters large and small when ever I get the chance.
An advantage I have over a lot of other designers is that I come from a Technical Director's back ground so understand not only how things are actually made but the importance of being able to clear load-in door frames and the tops of trucks...
Through the years I have gotten to be known as the go to person for the weird and wild or the neo-avant-garde.
I specialize in providing high art for low dollar and no, that doesn't mean I'm cheap. It means that meaningful design works with the resources at hand within the community the artists are designing in and performing in.
